Bessie Righter Obituary

Righter, Bessie
Bessie "Bess" F. Righter, 95, graduated to her Savior's presence on Thursday, January 18, following a stroke. Bess was preceded in death by parents Ellis and Bertha Thomas, brothers Fred and Boyd, sister Bonnie, son David, and husband of 72 years, Donald. She is survived by sons Stephen D. and Thomas B. along with 5 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Bess was an active believer and participated in women's groups in Upper Arlington, OH, and Bradenton, FL. She was known for her guitar playing and enjoyed playing hymns she learned as a child growing up in rural West Virginia. She loved homemaking and entertaining family and friends, and she often won at dominoes. Upon moving back to Columbus in 2010, she and Don became active at Linworth Baptist Church. More recently, even after suffering health setbacks, she continued to show helpfulness and concern for others in her care facility. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at LEAVITT FUNERAL Home, 403 7th St., Parkersburg, WV 26101. You can share condolences with the family at www.leavittfuneralhome.com. In lieu of gifts, you can make a contribution to International Friendships, Inc. at www.ifipartners.org.
