Professor Weed made me a proud scientist as I earned my MS and PhD under him in 1971. I also worked for him through Project Hope in Egypt. I will always cherish the meaning full guidance he provided as my mentor.

Professor Weed was my mentor as I earned my MS BME from 1982 to 1985. I also had the opportunity to work for him through Project Hope in Grenada and China. Always kind and thoughtful. I was convinced that OSU was the right place for me to earn my degree after I met him. Many good memories of the program and my time abroad in Project HOPE.

Dear Sylvia and family,

I was so saddened to learn of Herman's passing. I have many fond memories of his undergraduate and graduate classes at OSU - he was and always will be one of my favorite professors and mentors. He was caring, inspirational, entertaining, perceptive and motivating, often all at the same time! It is so comforting to know that he lived such a beautiful and meaningful life and that he cared so deeply for his family. I am grateful for the time I was able to spend with Herman and the many memories I will always have about him. My prayers are with you.

Dear Sylvia and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Herman was a wonderful leader and man; inspiring, passionate, thoughtful, caring, and visionary. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a student within his ‘BME graduate school program' in the early years; and appreciated his council as my thesis co-advisor, advisor to the BME student organization, and my involvement on the graduate committee. It has been very gratifying to see his dreams come to fruition through the progress of the BME program to Department status, the advent of the undergraduate program, and the quality of the research and students that BME produces year over year. Herman's legacy is something to be very proud of.

He was the best mentor I have ever had, I learned so much from him and found him to be a great man. He was my advisor in graduate school, I am lucky to have known him. My deepest condolence Sylvia, may God bring peace to your heart.

Herman was a good friend and valued faculty colleague at Ohio State for many years. His stately presence will be missed but his legacy will remain forever through the Biomedical Engineering Department.

Silvia and Family: Herman had an enormous impact on my life, not only as an educator, but particularly because he inspired me to join the Project HOPE biomedical engineering program 25+ years ago. For this I'll be forever grateful. The picture I've attached is from a trip Herman and I took to Macedonia in 1994. My thoughts are with you. Roger Dzwonczyk, The Ohio State University
