COFER SR. David Alphonso Cofer, Sr., age 72, Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Sunrise of Bexley after a long illness. Retired Columbus Public Schools Teacher. Graduate of Blackfork High School, Rio Grande University with a bachelor's degree, and Xavier University with a master's degree. Member Hope Lutheran Church, BREAD Organization; Volunteer for Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survived by wife of 40 years, Nancy; daughter, Amy (Paul) Edgar; son, David (Elisha) Cofer, Jr.; grandchildren, Olivia and Christopher Cofer, Isabella and Madelynn Edgar; brother, Herman Cofer; step-brother, Jerome Howell; mother-in-law, Esther Leemaster; brothers-in-law, Scott (Susan) Leemaster, Jon (Kathy) Leemaster; special cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Preceded in death by infant son Christopher David Cofer, father Alphonso Cofer, mother and step-father Elsie and Donald Howell, brothers Kenneth and Parris Cofer, sister Teresa Hampton. Friends may call Sunday, December 11, 2-5 p.m., EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave. and Monday 1 hour prior to service at the church. Funeral service Monday, December 12, 11 a.m., Hope Lutheran Church, 820 Lilley Ave. Pastor Carl Rayburn officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
