Llewellyn Coles Obituary

COLES Llewellyn A. "Lew" Coles, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Mount Carmel West Hospital. Lew was born to the late Stella and Robert W. Coles, Jr. on December 31, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Columbus West High School where he was awarded All-City Honors for football, basketball and track. He briefly participated in the Ohio State Highway Patrol cadet program. He was employed at Westinghouse Corporation for ten years during that time he also served two years in the United States Army. He then began a career as an OSHA Inspector at the State of Ohio Department of Industrial Relations. Lew retired as a Safety and Health Consultant, having served 25 years. His professional and business accomplishments were significant. Lew was an accomplished conversationalist, who never met a stranger. He was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams were the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Lew and his late wife Carolyn traveled extensively to destinations such as, Hawaii, Jamaica, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, numerous cruises, Las Vegas and throughout the United States. Lew will always be remembered for his fun loving and outgoing personality. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Cassaundra R. Crawford and Camille (Jason) Potts, Stacy Williamson; siblings, Juliet Rowland, Robert (Linda) Coles III, Caroline Coles-Pate (Arthur Clark Jr.), Deborah Coles Stinson; grandchildren, Reginald D. Williamson Jr. (Tiffany), Rodney I., Raven I. Thomas, Sydney A. Crawford, Jayonna, Jalen, Justice, Jordan, Jaysean, Jasia, Jade and Julia Potts; great-grandchildren, Taliyah D. and Tatiyanna D. Williamson; care-givers, Misty Burns, Cierra Sherry and Jennifer Vanleer; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his wife of 27 years Carolyn D. Coles and son Reginald D. Williamson Sr., loving parents Stella and Robert Coles Jr. Memorial service will be held Sunday, August 29, 2010, 2 p.m. at CALIMAN FUNERAL SERVICES, 3700 Refugee Road, Columbus OH. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be held Monday August 30, 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. www.calimanfuneralservices.com

Another Angel has gone home! Juliette, Bobby, Buttons, Debbi...we are very saddened see this in writing. Our hearts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. He was like a big brother to me and Bev (Kirkpatrick) and Junnie has been recalling some funny stories about Lew.

I worked with Lew at State of Ohio - Department of Industrial Relations and we had a lot of good times together at work. He was a fun guy and he will be missed, but he is at rest with God and no more pain is in his body. May God truly bless Lew's family at this time.

Dear Coles Family, Lew was in my graduating class at West High and we attended Hilltop United Methodist Church together and I will always remember him as a fun-loving and very nice guy.
