1935 - 2018
Saul Blumenthal, age 82, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents Herman and Rose Blumenthal. He is survived by his wife, Linda Karp Blumenthal; daughter, Alice McGinty; sons, Edward (Amy) Blumenthal and David (Stephanie) Blumenthal; sister, Elaine (VaiKai) Brown; and grandchildren, Jacob McGinty, Zachary McGinty and Emily, Rachel, Ari, Samuel, and Oliver Blumenthal. Born in Philadelphia, Saul received his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Cornell University. He served on the faculty at the University of Minnesota, Rutgers, NYU, University of Kentucky, and University of Illinois before moving to Columbus. Saul retired as a Professor Emeritus in the OSU Statistics Department. He was an avid tax preparer with the AARP Tax Preparer program and was a former board member of Chamber Music Columbus. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 14 at Congregation Beth Tikvah, 6121 Olentangy River Rd. Interment will follow at Green Lawn – Beth Tikvah section. Shiva will be observed at the Blumenthal home on Wednesday from 7-8:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Chamber Music of Columbus or Cornell University.
