Our dearest Doc Joe, you are missed today as much as the day you left us. I think about you often and wonder what you would think of how this family has grown. We have grown up grandchildren who are giving us great-grandchildren !! We have 2 sailors and a granddaughter starting medical school to become a doctor. I know you are watching over all of us and I love you so much for that. You always were a protector. Be at peace. Live you, Dana

Doc Joe you are missed more than you know in these troubling times. Your caring manner as a doctor would put us all at ease, reassuring us we will be ok and get through this pandemic. It is hard to believe you have been gone so long. There is always a moment in each day when you pop in to my thoughts and I wonder what Doc Joe would do or say. Miss you so much and love you even more. Rest In Peace. Love, Dana

I know you are watching over my beloved Carrie Ann and our family members that we all miss so much. Be at peace my dear brother-in-law and know how much we love you!!

Dr. Joe was one of the greatest men that I have ever known. He was like a father to me, even though younger than I. He was a major reason I could cope with my loss.
Years ago he cured one of my sons when another doctor told me to expect his death. He did the same miracle for my daughter.
He was a physician with a minor in phychiatry. I feel that he knew me a little more than myself.
His religous faith was expressed in real-time life.

Doc Joe is a one of a kind caring doctor and individual. "The Dash " by Linda Ellis is a perfect tribute for Doc Joe. There is the date of birth and the other date but the small dash in the middle is what really matters. "For it matters not , how much we own; the cars the house the cash. What matters is how we live and love and spend our dash." Doc Joe truely spent his loving God,his family, his profession and all the lives he touched. He will be missed by all who had the priveledge to know him.

I worked as a Medical Assistant in the Powell office about 8 years ago. One of the things I admired most about Doc was his love and compassion for all his patients. Every patient ended their visit with hugging Doc Joe or some expression of fondness. I also admired his strength and attitude. You would of never known he was going thru chemo, he didn't miss a day of work, except the days he actual received treatment. Doc will be truely missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wonderful family.

Dear Linda and family,
Our words cannot express the sorrow we feel. There are so few people that we've met throughout our lives that have touched us in the many ways Doc has. He was not only our family doc, but he was our friend, confidant and encourager. He was always there for us (and many others) in time of need. He would selflessly give of himself to enrich the lives of those who knew him. Although his vocation was taking care of our physical needs, his true calling was a ministry of love - giving of his time and sharing witness through the reflection of his life in glory to the Lord. His passion for young people is well know and has created a lasting legacy that will live on through the lives of those he has touched.
We will miss our friend, but we know that he has been welcomed into heaven with the words, “Welcome, thou good and faithful servant, Joe Franz. Enter into the joy of the Lord”.
Doc's spirit will forever live on in our hearts and our lives. “I love you, Brother.” We love you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you! Doc Joe lived a full and happy life, I can't think of a single time there was not a smile on his face or love in his heart. All of us are better people thanks to his touching our lives at one point or another. He will be missed! Doc, until we meet again on the other side! I will never forget watching the grass grow, model rocketry, midnight bowling, and those fantastic pepperoni rolls! I would not be who I am today if it wasn't for you, Doc!
