Jenkinson David M. Jenkinson, 67, Columbus, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Athens, Ohio on November 19, 1946 to Joseph "Donald" and Thelma (Bobo) Jenkinson. David is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Wayne Jenkinson. Survivors include his sons, Billy Joe (Stephanie Carsey) Jenkinson and Christopher Jenkinson; sister, Sherry (Towney) Sharpe; sister-in-law, Geneva Jenkinson; grandchildren, Amanda Hogue and Shawn Nance; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Miracle; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many great friends. David was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam Era. David retired as an operating engineer after 33 years. David spent many years in Veterans Affairs helping countless veterans to a better life. Due to his exemplary work with veterans, David was awarded a Legion of Honor Award from the Chapel of The Four Chaplains. David also spent many years working in union affairs also trying to make life better for his fellow operating engineers. Among many other awards, David was also awarded with the civilian fire heroism award from the State Fire Marshal. A celebration of David's life will be held Sunday, June 22, from 3-7 p.m. at the American Legion in Athens, Ohio at 520 W. Union St. Honor Guard will be present at 3 p.m.
