Wenz Alan G. Wenz, age 83, of N. Ft. Myers, FL and Port Clinton, OH, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 after a lengthy struggle with heart disease. Al is preceded in death by parents George and Martha, first wife Elizabeth "Betty", his brother Donald and his sister Janet. He is survived by his wife, Doris, of 33 years; and his five children, Celeste Survoy (Bernie) of Medina, Dean Wenz (Julie) of Bexley, Elizabeth Myers (Jim) of Medina, Faith Sroka (Steve) of Parma, and Georgine Bowman (Will) of Fairfield, OH; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; step-children, Bryon Baylog (Kathy) of Parma, Ann Marie Herrbold (Dan) of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Linda Herman (Richard) of North Ridgeville, and Larry Baylog (Debbie) of Parma; eight step-grandchildren; and four great-step-grandchildren; also survived by his brothers, Robert, James, Roger and George; his sister, Arlene; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Al graduated from Rhodes High School and proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. He lived out his early adult life on Schwab Dr. in Parma, raising his family and working as a stereotyper for the NEA and then retiring from the service department for the City of Parma. He also served as Parma City Councilman. He was a member of Divinity Lutheran Church of Parma Heights, Messiah Lutheran Church of Cape Coral, FL., The Parma Democratic Club, The Elks Lodge, The Moose Lodge and The American Legion. He enjoyed golf, boating, fishing and gambling. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the , 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231. Service at Divinity Lutheran Church, 11877 Blossom Ave., Parma Heights, Saturday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends received at RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD., PARMA, FRIDAY 4-7 p.m.
