Alpha Jack Sevy Obituary
Sevy Alpha Jack Sevy, 86 years young, of Palm City, FL, and formerly of Columbus, passed away May 8, 2017. Jack was born January 30, 1931 in Rainelle, WV, to the late Alpha and Edith (Hanshew) Sevy. He graduated from Nuttall High School in Lookout WV, West Virginia State College and Capital City Commercial College. After serving honorably in the United States Army at Ft. Eustis, VA, Jack began his long career in the oil related business with Pure Oil Company as an account manager, then a field supervisor. This eventually brought him to Columbus in the late 1950s, where he started his own fuel stop in the downtown area, which he then moved to near Delaware, OH in the late 1960s, establishing Jack Sevy's Fuel Stop, which he would sell to move to western Pennsylvania and become the owner/operator of a Unocal 76 Auto/TruckStop, until his return to Columbus in 1993, when he sold his business and retired. After the passing of his wife, Peggy (Kershner) in 1995, Jack relocated to South Florida, initially to the West Palm Beach Area, then Lake Wales in Central Florida, and lastly the Palm City area in 2010, where he continued his love of golf, reacquainted with old friends and made many new ones. While together, Jack and Peggy loved to golf and travel across the country and around the world. He was a member of Masonic York Lodge 563, Aladdin Shrine, Scottish Rite and Brookwood Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by siblings Evelyn Cordell and Everett Sevy. He is survived by his son Richard Kershner Sevy. SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 E.
