Delfino Anna Katherine (Gordon) Delfino, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014. She was born on December 9, 1920 to the late John and Angelina (Schraeder) Gordon. Anna retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center and was a Veteran of the US Coast Guard, proudly serving her country during World War II. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Anna was a very family oriented matriarch - loving and attending all family gatherings and reunions. Her favorite pastime was playing (and winning) her preferred card game of Euchre with friends and family. She enjoyed bowling and playing the piano for many years. Time had no meaning for her when she was gardening or "working in the yard". Political or general discussions about news topics with Anna often times were a learning experience, as she was always well-versed in most all current events, whether locally or on a national level. She was a kind-hearted woman of great strength and wisdom, unafraid to "tell it like it is". She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Franz) Nazem of Yorktown Heights, New York, Ronda (Daniel) Barford of Miamisburg, Ohio; sons, C.J. (Margaret) Delfino of Columbus and Dennis (Tracy) Delfino of League City, Texas; grandchildren, Dariush (Randi) Nazem, Rika Nazem, Nicole (Scott) Rittner, Dan (Melanie) Barford, Megan (Dan) Oddis, Trey Delfino, Ryan (Emily) Delfino and Samuel Delfino; ten great grandchildren, Brother Jack (Edna) Gordon; sisters, Jeannie Metzger and Dorothy Bingham. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles J. Delfino, daughter Diana Lynn Delfino, son Gordon Lee Delfino, great grandson Daniel John Barford, brother Richard Gordon and sister Jane Belisle. Family will receive friends at the SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 4341 N. High Street on Wednesday, December 17 from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday 9-9:45 a.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 18 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in memory of Anna Delfino.

I loved Mom Delfino so very much--I remember well our trip to Chicago many years ago. Our trailer got unhooked in the windy city as we were driving in circles looking for CJ and his dad. Then on the way home the brakes gave out and we drove so very carefully with our hearts in our mouths until we made it to our homes--always an adventure with dear Ann. I am sure she is in heaven right now laughing and joking with all her friends and relatives (those lucky people).
