COVENEY Anne R. Coveney, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania to Paul and Regina Cahill Coveney on September 1, 1931. Anne graduated from Athens High School in Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Seton Hill University, a Master's Degree from Iowa State University and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Cornell University. Seton Hill recognized her with a Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award. Her career included academic appointments at Washington State University, Iowa State University and The Ohio State University. In 1992 she retired with emeritus status from the College of Human Ecology at Ohio State University. After retirement, Anne volunteered at the former Holy Rosary Family Shelter in Columbus, with the Maryknoll Sisters Call and Response Program in Guatemala, at the gift shop of the Dominican Sisters of Peace in Mohun Health Care Center, and at her parish of St. Agatha. She loved her family, treasured her longtime friends from OSU and St. Agatha, books, and traveling. She was blessed with quick wit, and a dry Irish sense of humor. Much enjoyment came from her two cats, Louie and Ella. Anne was predeceased by her parents and a brother-in-law Dr. Robert Pudenz. She is survived by her sister, Patricia, and Pat's husband, Nestor Sozanski; and her sister, Rita Pudenz; and by her sisters' children and grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday 4-7 p.m., Prayer Service 5:30 p.m., at the EGAN-RYAN NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Rd. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Agatha Church, Northam and Andover Rds. Burial at St. James Cemetery, Waverly, N.Y. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Columbus Catholic Worker House, c/o St. James the Less Church, 1614 Oakland Park Ave., Columbus, OH 43224.
