Rev. Armin L. Barnick Obituary
Barnick, Rev. Armin L.
1927 - 2017
The Reverend Armin L. Barnick, 90, of Grove City, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2017. He was born November 6, 1927 to the late Albert and Martha (Wepner) Barnick of South Dupont, Wisconsin. He came to Columbus, Ohio to attend Capital University where he received a BA degree in history, and the Evangelical Lutheran Seminary (Trinity Lutheran Seminary) where he received a Master of Divinity in 1953. He was ordained at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marion, Wisconsin on June 14, 1953. He served as pastor at churches in Indiana, Tennessee and Ohio, and in 1968, became the founding pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church in Grove City, Ohio, and served the Bethel congregation for twenty-five years. He was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and also, recently, Zion Lutheran Church, Obetz. Pastor Barnick enjoyed restoring primitive antiques, being outdoors, and spending time with family-especially his grandchildren. His unwavering faith and compassionate love for the Lord reflected a true servant of God. So many were blessed because they knew him and were able to call him Pastor. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Carol (Schlanser); children, Mark (Lana) Barnick, Dana (Mark) Klabunde, Jane (Will) Hillenbrand, and Karen (Robert) Pfeifer; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Niemuth; brother, Leo Barnick; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Pastor Barnick was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Visitation of family and friends will be held Friday, November 24, 2017, 12:30 pm-2 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 1080 Obetz Road, Columbus, Ohio 43207, where a Celebration of Armin's Life will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Matthew Cox officiating. A private family interment will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Westerville, Ohio. Family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 1080 Obetz Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43207. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to share memories and offer condolences. Arrangements entrusted to the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel.
