Fishman Bernice D. Fishman, age 82, passed away on October 5, 2013. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alfred Fishman. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Andy) Mendel; son, Jeff Fishman; brother, S. Louis (Joan) Kelter; grandchildren, Zach and Jesse Mendel and Daniel Fishman; cousins, Ilana (Andy) Spector and David (Lisa) Eidelberg; many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Bernice moved to Columbus eleven years ago to be near her family and was fortunate to be warmly welcomed into the community. She made wonderful friendships that she cherished every day, and always looked forward to her weekly Mah Jongg game. She was a dedicated congregant of Temple Israel, often volunteering in the temple office. She was also involved in charitable giving through Bubbe's Blessings, a group that knits items for babies in need. Funeral services will take place in New Jersey. Condolence calls may be made at the Mendel residence on Wednesday evening, October 9, 2013, from 7 to 8 p.m. A memorial service and shiva observance will be held at the Mendel residence on Thursday evening, October 10, 2013, at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are preferred to Temple Israel in Bernice's memory.
