Bert was a lifetime resident of Columbus, Ohio and was a proud graduate of the 1949 class of North High School. He earned his accounting degree from The Ohio State University in 1952 and went on to become a CPA. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base from 1953-1955. He worked at Arthur Young and Peat Marwick then served as treasurer and vice president of First Columbus Corporation before founding the CPA firm of Greene & Wallace, Inc in 1966. Bert was a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs where he served as president of the Columbus Chapter and as a director of the Ohio Society. Bert had an entrepreneurial spirit, and was a principal owner and officer of several service companies outside of the accounting profession including Allied Roto-Rooter, G&W Inc, and Columbus Fasteners Corp. He also served his community as an active member of the YBMC, long time board member and treasurer of the Columbus Jazz Arts Group, treasurer of the North High Alumni Club, and director and treasurer of Hospital Audiences. Bert was fortunate enough to meet Sylvia Zoog, the love of his life, in 10th grade at North High School and was happily married to her until her passing in 2001. It brings great peace to his family knowing that they have been reunited. Some of Bert and Sylvia's most treasured memories were spending time with family and friends at their Crystal Lake home in northern Michigan.
