Bertha L. Allen Obituary
Allen Bertha L. Allen "Bertie", 93, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mt. Carmel East surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 3, 1924 in Blacklick, Ohio to Ervin and Mary Etta Thrash. She enjoyed creating and working in her flower gardens where she won many awards. She traveled, line danced, and clogged with the Gahanna Seniors, and cared deeply for her beloved dog Benji. She attended Peace Lutheran Church and Saint Luke Church in Gahanna. During her working career she worked at Fort Hayes, Highlights for Children, Columbus General Depot, and retired from DCSC in 1987. Preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers, and her ex-husband Donald Allen. She is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Dan) Gease, Dianna (Richard) Martin, and Lisa (Dwight) Shrigley; six grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Gease, Greg (Nicole) Gease, Thomas Martin, Tara (Mike) Leonard, Jennifer Bunner, and Heather (Zach) Dempsey; six great-grandchildren, Zachary and Megan Leonard, Gavin Bunner, Jaxson Gease, Hadley and Rowen Dempsey; and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service at Mifflin Township Cemetery, Gahanna will be held at a later date.
