C. William "Bill" Paul, age 85, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017. He was born on December 28, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Clifford D. and Ruth (Leffler) Paul. Bill graduated from West High School in June of 1950 and then attended The Ohio State University before enlisting in The Korean War in July of 1951. He served in The Navy aboard The USS Whetstone in the Pacific, aboard The USS Missouri and was honorably discharged in July of 1955. After the Navy Service, he served an apprenticeship in The Printing Trade and worked at Wartburg Press followed by National Graphics Co. Bill loved to play golf with family and friends as well as competing in golf tournaments. After retirement, he became a founding member of The Country Club of Muirfield Village and also belonged to The Lake Wales, FL Village Golf Club, where he and LaVina spent twenty years as winter residents. In May of 1975, Bill became a Mason as a member of ancient and accepted Scottish Rite York Lodge #563 F. & A.M. in Columbus, Ohio. During the 80's and 90's, he decided to fulfil another dream and became a Solo Certified Airplane Pilot in June of 1985. After which he purchased his Cessma 172. The next eleven years left him flying everywhere in the US, with wife LaVina as copilot for long distances. He loved to take his family members flying as well. What fun!! Bill and Lavina enjoyed traveling the US as well as Europe. They had a wonderful life starting in high school, which was seventy years ago! They are members of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, which started in 1917. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Long, He will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years, LaVina (Souslin) Paul; three daughters, Bonnie (Andy) McLaughlin, Roxanne (Bill) Ehrhart and Bethanie (Chet) Turner; six loving grandchildren, Laura and Sean (Nicole) Erhart, Lindsey and Elisabeth McLaughlin, Emily and Chase Turner; the cutest three great grandsons; and many cousins. Family will receive friends 1-4 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, December 8, 2017.
