Babbitt Catherine C. Babbitt, age 101, passed away April 1, 2014 in Friendswood, TX. Preceded in death by her husband Robert Babbitt. Catherine is survived by daughter, Daryl (Gary) Wiley; son, Gerald Jay (Jamie) Babbitt; grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Cowie, Christina (Jason) Bice, Amanda Wiley, Kyle (Ashley) Babbitt, Brendan (Trish) Wiley, Casey Babbitt; and great grandchildren, Trevor, Jacob, Jordan, and Luke. Catherine proudly served in the Women's Army Corp during WWII, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. Catherine served as an instructor of fellow WACs with the famed "duce and a half" truck and led convoys carrying German prisoners. Constantly on the go, Catherine enjoyed travelling and spending weekends at the family lake house. Well into her 90s she white-water rafted, canoed, jet skied and rode the neighbor's motorcycle. Catherine was a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ until her relocation to Houston to live with her daughter in 2008 where she became a faithful member of Friendswood Community Church. A private memorial for family and friends at Maplewood Cemetery, New Albany will be scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Catherine's name to Honor Flights, 300 E. Auburn Ave., Springfield, OH, 45505. She would have liked that.
