Cecilia "Celia" Martha Forker, age 95, of Gahanna, died peacefully Monday, August 14, 2017. Born November 22, 1921 to Paul Joseph Buchana and Anna Knapek Buchana in Newton Falls, Ohio. Served as an elected member of the Franklin County Republican Party Central Committee for more than 20 years. Retired from the Ohio Senate following 25 years of service as executive administrative assistant to Senators Ralph Regula, Paul Gilmore (President of the Senate for six years) and Theodore Gray. Named in two Senate Resolutions commending her tenure and contributions to state government and recognizing her as "The Great Ceil of the Ohio Senate". Honored in an official proclamation from the Mayor of Newton Falls, Ohio establishing November 22, 1991 as "Ceil Forker Day" in recognition of her public service and dedication to her family. Enjoyed flowers, birds, her dog Lovey, sewing projects (sometimes working into the wee hours of the morning) and creating greeting cards to the delight of her family and friends. Taught a number of people to drive and to read, always helping others to realize their potential. Showed unconditional love to her large family and all she met offering them a good listener with a warm heart. Preceded in death by her loving husband John Alter Forker, her brothers Clement, Joseph, William, and Robert and sister Antoinette. Survived by loving daughters, Eloise "Ellie" (Tom) Jenks of Guelph, Ontario, Kathleen "Kathy" (John) Hodges of Huntington, WV, Nancianna "Nan" (Jim) Samuels of Williamsburg, VA, Mary (Russell) Smith of Columbus; and son, John (Penny) Forker II of Lewis Center. Cherished grandmother of Tommy (Lisa) Jenks, Andree Jenks (David Waymouth), Jonathan (Samantha) Hodges, Adam (Christa) Hodges, Eden (Aaron) Hodges-McGuffin, Brian (Nicole) Samuels, Elizabeth (Jason) White, Benjamin Samuels, Jay (Marcy) Forker, Molly Forker; 22 great-grandchildren and beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews. Enjoyed the company of her niece Marcia Thomas, members of the Joseph family, neighbor Frances Doherty and the Statehouse "Birthday Gang". Longtime parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Columbus. The family is grateful for the loving presence of the residents and staff of The Inn at Bear Trail in Lewis Center, Ohio.
