Rev. Charles L. Cordle, Sr. age 88, passed away peacefully at the Laurels of Norworth on Friday, August 4, 2017. He was born November 13, 1928 to the late Thomas L. and Hattie Bell Cordle in Salt Lick, KY. Charles served in the United States Airforce during WWII and Linworth United Methodist Church was his church home. Besides his parents Charles is preceded in death by brother, Thomas Cordle and son in law, Dave Hanby. Charles devoted his life to God and retired as a United Methodist Minister having last served at Perryton/Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. In his career Charles also served at the following United Methodist churches; Thurman/Vega, Powell, South Charleston, Trinity, Mason, Hebron, Fremont, Oak Harbor and Degraff. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Julia; children, Carolyn (Ken) Cassidy, Linda (Charlie) Krumm, Harriet (John) Knipp, Cheri Hanby, Judith (Alan) Thames and Charles (Laura) Cordle, Jr. Charles is also survived by 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at LINWORTH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 7070 Bent Tree Blvd Columbus, OH 43235. Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile south of 270) and 1hr prior to service at church. Graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Newark Memorial Gardens. If desired contributions may be made to Linworth United Methodist Church.
