Charles William "Bill" Gray Obituary
Gray, Charles William "Bill"
Charles William "Bill" Gray, of Powell, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at the age of 87 years at Kobacker House. Bill was born in Antrim, OH to Willis and Viola Gray. He served his country in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. For 31 years, he was employed by the Ohio Department of Transportation (Highways) as a Geometric Design Engineer in Columbus and then he continued his profession for the State of Colorado for 13 more years before retirement. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, June; and their 4 children: daughter, Stephanie Mutz of Pensacola, FL and her daughter, Melanie of San Diego, CA; son, Timothy (Sylvia) of Crowley, TX and their daughters, Shelby and Cassie; son, Bruce (Debby) of Simpsonville, SC and their twin daughters, Katey and Annie, daughter, Lauralee (Ryan) Kirkland, and their daughter, Bill's great-granddaughter, Finley (1 month) of Charleston, SC; son, Weston (Jessie) of Birmingham, AL; and son, Curtis of Lewis Center, OH, his sons, Daniel and Nathan, and daughter, Carlee. He is also survived by one sister, Betty Tremelling of Canton and her family. Bill graduated from Canton Lincoln High School, attended the Canton Branch of Kent State University and received his degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He met June his future wife at ONU where she was a student also. As an active member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church he served as an elder, trustee and was on other committees but most of all he loved music and singing in the Chancel Choir (just not Bach!) His desire to drive the highways and tent or trailer camping with his family all over the country was his favorite vacation but Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado was the most attractive destination. He was a beloved husband, an amazing, generous, and sports minded father, grandfather, and a devout Christian. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214. Pastors William and Mary Gause officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Fellowship Hall. Contributions may be made to Overbrook Presbyterian Church Music Fund or Rocky Mountain Conservancy, P.O. Box 3100, Estes Park, CO 80517 (a 501(C)(3)) in Bill's memory. Arrangements by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME. To leave a condolence for the family please visit www.rutherfordfuneralhome.com.
