Drake Chester L. Drake Jr. went home to be with the Lord on March 24, 2017, a beautiful spring day, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 20, 1939 in Berea, OH to Chuck and Joyce Drake. For 77 years, he lived with passion and purpose. He gave his all to being a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. A good and faithful servant, he shared God's Word with many and had such compassion for the homeless and the needy. He loved fishing with his family, working in his garage making wooden toys, tending to his flowers in his garden and doing water color painting in his den. He also loved baking, creating steam engines, doing his morning Sudoku and vacationing in the Outer Banks. A graduate of North High School, Class of '57. He enjoyed working for 59 years at National Electric Coil. He loved working with Yefim and Boris. An active member of Gideons International, he worked with the prison ministry and passed out Bibles. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church on West Broad St. And was an avid supporter of Worthington Special Olympics and the Miracle League. He is survived by his wife, Sherry, of 58 years; his son, Chuck and his wife, Mylynda; his daughter, Kim and her husband Matt; and his daughter, Courtney and her husband, Francisco; seven special grandsons: Ryan and Colin Trubee, Aiden and Simon Drake, Sebastian and Simon Shaskus and little Lincoln Arana; his sister, Patty Thompson and her husband Brad; and his brother, Bill Drake and his wife Arly; and his best buddy and cousin, Bobby Miller and his wife Keli. He also leaves beloved in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will now get to enjoy time with those who passed before him: his parents, his daughter Keri, his in-laws Ray and Thelma Goodykoontz, and his brother Dave and his wife Elaine. What a life well-lived! Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 27 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High Street in Worthington, where his Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Pastor Tim Lee with Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating.
