PATTERSON Christine Patterson, age 89, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. Born to the late Lola and Ralph Patterson, Chris was a graduate of Columbus North High School, Class of 1935 and attended The Ohio State University. During WWII, Chris proudly served her country as a WAVE in the United States Navy. She retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Taxation after 32+ years of service. An avid and competitive sports enthusiast, Chris was a loyal Ohio State fan who especially followed and attended OSU women's basketball games. She was a member of the OSU Women's Golf Association and regularly played at the OSU Golf Course. She also was a member of Sawmill Lanes Bowling League and was bowling right up until the time of her illness. Chris was a member of the Clintonville Woman's Club and a member of Meadow Park Church of God. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Frances and Forrest Irwin. Chris is survived by her niece, Beverly Irwin Johnson of Columbus; and her nephew, James (Clarissa Gereby) Irwin of Rock Creek, OH; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Heidi (Kevin) Smith of Worthington, Justin Irwin of Southington, OH, Elizabeth (Andrew) O'Neil of Columbus, Zakary Smith and Heather Smith of Worthington and Layla O'Neil of Columbus; her many dear friends and neighbors; and her loyal and devoted Westie, Lily. Family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2012 at the RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, OH 43065, (614)-792-1471, where a Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Paul Strozier, officiating.
