Obituary Condolences

Dowling David "Dave" Dowling, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 14, 2017 at home. He was born August 25, 1958 in Paris, Illinois, to Jack and Rose (Thies) Dowling of Danville, Illinois. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Penny; and two sons, Matthew and Brandon Dowling of Columbus; brothers, Art of Seville, OH, Jack of Effingham, IL, Don of Champaign, IL, Jim of Champaign, of IL, Larry of Chicago, IL; sister, Mary Ann Hughes of Westville, IL; and brother, Patrick of Rapid City, SD. Dave loved his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, as well as his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was like a father to many of his sons' closest friends who often looked to him for guidance. He was preceded in death by his sister Suzie of Danville, Illinois, and his parents. He enjoyed spending time and playing sports with his two sons and cherished his time with extended family at annual reunions, and vacations. Dave served as Lector and proud member of the Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Columbus. He also served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1985 and was employed for 30 years at Alliance Data in Columbus. In addition to his interest in sports, Dave was a hobby enthusiast whose interests included coin, stamp, and comic book collecting. He also collected sports memorabilia relating to his favorite Major League Baseball Team, the Chicago Cubs, and the National Football League Chicago Bears. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the MAEDER QUINT TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. HIGH ST., COLUMBUS, OH, where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 10 a.m. at Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 5225 Refugee Rd.
