David "Tug" McGraw Obituary
McGraw, David "Tug"
1961 - 2017
David "Tug" McGraw, 56, returned to his Heavenly home after a courageous, 8 month battle with the beast of burden, Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Please allow me to introduce myself…I was born to the late Donald "Don" and Virginia "Ginny" McGraw in Lancaster, OH on August 11, 1961. On November 16, 2017, I decided I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains where the spirits go now, over the hills where the spirits fly." Dave graduated from William V. Fisher Catholic High School, class of 1979. An avid Notre Dame football fan, wild horses couldn't drag him away from cheering for the Irish on Saturdays. Dave was also a big fan of classic rock music…so big that some might say it's only rock and roll, but he likes it. Undoubtedly, all that knew Dave, knew of his love for the Rolling Stones, enough to see them in concert 19 times. Dave is survived by his wife, Dinah McGraw; daughter, Sarah McGraw-Thimmes and son-in-law, Luke Thimmes of Lancaster. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Michael. With no sympathy for the devil, the Lord asked Dave to get on my cloud and Dave willingly said "thank you, I asked you to gimme shelter and now time is on my side." While leaving us shattered and filled with mixed emotions, Dave now has Satisfaction. Unfortunately, you can't always get what you want, but it's all over now and we will miss you. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME, 222 S. Columbus St., with Fr. Peter Gideon officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Mary Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 2225 Citygate Dr., Columbus, OH 43219 or the James Cancer Hospital Survivorship Fund, 1480 W. Lane Ave., Columbus, OH 43221.
