Deborah Marie Dolezal Thyer Obituary
Thyer Deborah Marie Dolezal Thyer of Bexley, Ohio, born December 8, 1942 passed away on May 4, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband William Roger Thyer, her parents Clara (Mathew) and Anthony Dolezal, brother Reay Dolezal and her grandson Elijah Sanders. She leaves her children, Angela Claire Thyer, MD (Benjamin Sanders, MD), Andrew William Thyer (Christina), and Abigail Marie Thyer-Ohly (Kirk Ohly); her grandchildren, Eleanor and Kaia Sanders, Sarah, Rachel, Sophia, and Elias Thyer, Clara Grace and Arlo Ohly; her siblings, Donna (Norman) Divine, and David Mathew Dolezal; many nieces and nephews will miss lively family gatherings with Debbie. She is a '60 graduate of Eastmoor H.S., a '64 graduate of Capital University, and a lifetime member of Broad Street Christian Church. Debbie taught in the Columbus Public Schools and was an Executive Legal Recruiter. Many organizations benefited from Debbie's strong organizational and fund-raising talents. She was active in the Women's Association of the Columbus Symphony Vivace Unit; Opera/Columbus Board of Trustees (several times Volunteer of the Year); founding member of The Impresarios of Opera/Columbus; Children's Hospital Twig; League Against Child Abuse; CSG Mothers Association Board; Crichton Club; Mary Ritter Garden Club. Debbie loved gardening, gourmet cooking, playing bridge, and refinishing woodwork. She was a fund-raiser extraordinaire and organizer of the Thyer Social Club, thoroughly enjoyed by her many friends. Her family will welcome friends at the O. R. WOODYARD SOUTH CHAPEL, 1346 S High St, 43207 on Saturday May 27; greeting from 1-2 p.m. Memorial Service from 2-3 p.m. Rev. Joy Omslaer, officiating. Reception to follow at 2549 Brentwood Rd, 43209, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Internment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
