1948 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Donna "Chris" (Coachman) Deubner Obituary
Deubner Donna "Chris" (Coachman) Deubner passed away June 11, 2017 at Kobacker House, surrounded by her family. Chris was born October 22, 1948, to Ernest L. and Betty (Lea) Coachman in Jacksonville, FL. Chris graduated from Grove City High School in 1966, attended Ohio University, and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1970 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and, later, earned a Master's Degree from OSU in Elementary Education with concentration in reading. She taught 2 years in Hamilton Local Schools, followed by 35 years in Southwestern City Schools, and then, after "retirement," taught 7 more years in Dublin City Schools. She was gifted, dedicated, and selfless; loved tremendously by thousands of students and tons of teachers. Chris married (and is survived by) Scott Duane Deubner on June 10, 1972; 45 years and 1 day of marriage. She is also survived by son, Scott Christopher Deubner, his wife, Jessica (Schoonover) Deubner, and their son (the light of Chris's life), Owen Russell Deubner, age 7. Owen will greatly miss "Mimi D." Brother and sister-in-law, Ernie L. and Jenny (Whitmyer) Coachman, and their daughter and son, Allyson and Sam, also survive Chris. After finally and really retiring from teaching, Chris volunteered at the Dublin Food Pantry, where her talents were quickly discovered and awarded with promotion to "Produce Princess." Chris was also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority (OSU), and Zonta. She loved OSU, traveling with Scott, spending time with family and friends and spreading the joy of reading to all. But she will especially be known in our hearts as the "Pink Warrior," the patient who arrived at chemotherapy at Halloween in a pink tutu; who fought aggressive breast cancer with humor, determination, and grace. Her bright light will shine in the night sky. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1735 Bethel Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kobacker House, PO BOX 600001, Columbus, Ohio 43272 or Columbus, 929 Eastwind Drive, Suite 211, Westerville, Ohio 43081.
