Donna T. Smith

1946 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Smith Donna T. Smith, age 70, left this World peacefully in her sleep at home on July 9, 2017 and into the welcoming arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for Eternal Joy. Donna faced her brief battle against illness with her characteristic always-there bluntness and courage - and through the Grace of Her Lord was not in severe pain or discomfort when she stepped through that door to the Kingdom of God. Born to Constantine and Kathryn Babalis on August 2, 1946 in Dayton Ohio, Donna married Ralph L. Smith Jr on May 24, 1968 and at a young age became an instant mother to three young boys. On December 7, 1970, she gave birth to her beloved daughter Nicole and forever after defined herself first and foremost as a Mother. As a Mother, a YiaYia (grandmother), a baby-sitter, a God Mother and a lover of children, Donna touched many lives in ways both subtle and not-so-subtle. Donna was proud of her Greek heritage and was a longtime member and supporter of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Columbus, Ohio. Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Ralph of nearly fifty years; her mother, Kathryn and sister, Ann (Dan); her daughter, Nicole (Steve) Smith; stepsons, Terry (Paula), Tim (Karen) and Greg Smith; grandchildren, Isaac, Madeline, Elijah, Nathanael, Benjamin, Jamie (Betty), Jeremy (Jennifer), Brandon, Adam, Sam (Cami) Smith and Hayley (Emilio) Philippi; also great grandchildren and cherished nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Her husband Ralph and her family wish to express their extreme gratitude to so many who gave of their time and talents to help Donna and her Family through her illness. From the doctors and nurses at Mt. Carmel West who helped her survive life-threating surgery so she could experience her personal miracle of spiritual healing, to the nurses and aides who helped her through rehab so she could come home, to the many Close Friends who held her hand and took the time to visit, to the countless members of the Shiloh Mennonite Church of London, Ohio who knew her only by association yet gave freely of their time and resources to provide meals that eased the burdens of others, we Thank You Deeply and Sincerely. The Lord has blessed us, clearly. Funeral service to be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 555 N. High St., Columbus, OH at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 (Viewing at 10 a.m.). A Graveside Service will take place after at Shiloh Mennonite Church, 7521 Woods and West Ave., London, OH. Donations in lieu of flowers to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Youth, 555 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43215, are deeply appreciated. Visit fergusonfuneralhoneinc.com to share a special memory.
