Rife Dwight Lyman Rife, Sr., age 91, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017. Born in Westerville, Ohio May 3, 1925 to the late Rev. Boyd C. Rife and Florence Alma Dum. Member of South High School Alumni. Dwight eloped with Tina Mae Thoma on July 23, 1941. He fell in love with her at first sight and loved her till the day he died. He started as a meat cutter at A&P on Parsons Ave., he was an Omar breadman for 14 years and finished his career as the top salesman at Bob Keim Ford for 30 years. Dwight was a foundational member of Washington Ave. E.U.B. Church. He was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, choir member, founded Boy Scout Troop 111, softball and basketball coach. He was a lay leader at Faith United Methodist Church and at present was a deacon at The Grove Church in Pickerington, Ohio. Member of Ralph R. Rickly Lodge #670 F&AM, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Southeast Lions Club, Distinguished Ford Motor Co. Top Hatter Club. He played Santa Claus for Toys for Tots, Aladdin Shrine Christmas party and may years at Jeffersonville Outlet Mall and many other locations, and family homes of special needs children. Lifelong outdoorsman and loved the annual family vacation to Grass Lake, MI. Preceded in death by sister Esther Smith, brothers Rev. Loyd M. Rife, Sr., sister Rev. Mabel Whipple Rife, great grandson Cameron Weethee, son-in-law Kenneth Rogue, brothers-in-law Earl Wooten and Bill Colbert. Survived by loving, caring wife of 75 years, Tina Mae Rife; daughters, Sandra K. (Ron) Weethee, Barbara M. Rogue; son, Dwight L. "Tex" (Sally) Rife, Jr.; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Pastor Dan (Shirley) Thoma; sister-in-law, Elizabeth E. Rife, 98; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., where funeral service will be held Wednesday 12 noon. Pastor Dan Thoma officiating. Interment Reber Hill Cemetery.
