CORDTS Edward J. Cordts, age 66 of Columbus, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012. Ed was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of the late Harold and Cecilia Cordts. Also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma M. Cordts and siblings, Joseph H. Cordts and Clara L. "Vicky" Schmidt. Following high school, Ed honorably served in the U.S.Navy. He worked as an over the road truck driver and retired from Consolidated Freightway, but truly, Ed was a "jack of all trades". There was nothing that Ed didn't try to fix or tinker with. He enjoyed woodworking, throwing darts, camping and fishing. He also had a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes and making others laugh. Ed was also very active and served as Past Governor of the Whitehall Moose Lodge #1245. He was caring, loyal and sincere and will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his children, William F. (Theresa) Hodge, Brian K. (Dianne) Hodge, and Mikel A. (Jennifer) Cordts; grandchildren, Kirby and Cole Hodge, Tasha and Derek Paeltz, and Kaylee, Brody, and Lucy Cordts; fiancé, Phyllis Cales; siblings, Robert (Florence) Cordts, Frederick (Julia) Cordts, and Jeanne Purkey; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services and Whitehall Lodge #1245 Moose service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until time of service Thursday. Private family inurnment.
