Elizabeth McEnery Obituary
McEnery, Elizabeth
1927 - 2017
Elizabeth "Betty" A. McEnery, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, August 11, 2017. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 23, 1927 to the late John and Paula Kloer Foerster and was preceded in death by Walter E. McEnery Jr. ("Mac"), her husband of 58 years. The love and generosity Betty was known for is matched only by the legacy she leaves behind: She is survived by her children, Walter McEnery III and his wife, Laurie; Suzanne Charles and her husband, Cecil; Betsy Moffitt and her husband, Keith; Michael McEnery and his wife, Esther; MaryAnn Shubaily and her husband, Samir; Kevin McEnery and his wife, Jill; Mark McEnery and his wife, Alana; as well as 28 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren — all of whom loved her deeply. Betty cherished a circle of friends that spanned from Ohio to Maine to Florida to Texas and met many of them during her exceptional career in real estate. Long before it was common for women to work, Betty began as a sales agent for Donahue Realty, then quickly rose to branch manager and eventually became a VP and partner, overseeing 19 branches while raising seven children. As the owner of Sherlock Homes, she remained active in real estate until the time of her death. Betty's strong work ethic, effortless class, lighthearted sense of humor and endless kindness endeared her to everyone she met. She made the world around her better and she will be greatly missed. Betty's family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High Street in Worthington (1/2 mile south of I-270). Mass of Christian Burial and Entombment will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel, 9571 N High St., Lewis Center, OH 43035. Celebrant, Reverend Michael B. Watson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO), Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio, 510 East North Broadway, Columbus, Ohio 43214 or to Ohio Health Hospice, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43214 in her memory.
