Obituary Condolences

Michel Erwin L. Michel, age 83, of Plain City, passed away Tuesday morning, March 28, 2017 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Born March 10, 1934 in Columbus. He worked 47 years in the wholesale paper industry. Erwin was a generous man devoted to his family. As his children grew, he encouraged them by being a part of everything they did. He was at every game and even coached his boys' basketball teams and his daughter's softball teams. In recent years, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play golf, football, volleyball, baseball, and basketball. Erwin loved all sports and was an avid golfer, playing on courses all over the country. He was a life-long Cleveland Indians fan. Erwin enjoyed traveling with his wife, Cindy, visiting all 50 states. He also volunteered with his wife at the Memorial Hospital of Marysville Mobile Meals program. For many years, Erwin co-hosted, with his brother, Bill, the best wood-cutting parties in the county! Preceded in death by his parents Erwin L. and Evelyn (Simpson) Michel Sr., sister Jane Baker. Survived by his loving wife, Cynthia "Cindy" (Brookhart) Michel with whom he would celebrate 60 years of marriage on June 9; sons, Eric (Michele) and Chris (Tina); daughter, Susan (Cary) James; grandchildren, Amber (Adam) Sermersheim, Jessica Robertson, Zachary Michel, Evan (Morgan) Michel, Macy Michel, Alex James and Andrew James; four great-grandchildren; brother,: Bill (Gerry); sister-in-law,: Libby Koch. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main Street, (St. Rt. 161W), Plain City. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Rd., Delaware, with Rev. John Hart officiating. Graveside services 10 a.m. Monday in Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Presbyterian Church Youth Program or Nationwide Children's Hospital 700 Children's Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43205.
