Rev. Gerald J. Gregg, age 86, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Columbus, OH. He was born October 5, 1930 in Washington, PA, son of the late James W. and Florence (Henning) Gregg. Gerry was a minister with Broad St. Presbyterian Church retiring in 1993 after 16 years. Prior to serving in Columbus, he served Presbyterian churches in South Bend and Munster, Indiana. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Jean (Sheppard) Gregg; his children, Linda (Michael) Clipson, Kathleen Hamblen, James (Grace) Gregg and Megan (Glenn) Thomas; grandchildren, David and Steven Clipson, Benjamin and Robert Gregg, Caitlin and Kristopher Hamblen and Lindsay Thomas; other relatives and many friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Gregg. He received his Bachelor and Masters degree in Divinity from the University of Chicago. Gerry attended and was an active volunteer at Broad St. Presbyterian Church. He was outspoken for social justice and one of the early supporters of the Compass program and food pantry at the church. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 East Broad St., Columbus, OH 43205, where family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gerald J. Gregg's memory may be made to the Compass program or Food Pantry at Broad St. Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43205.
