Gladie Hildebrand Childress, September 4, 1922 to September 29, 2017. A Memorial Service for Gladie H. Childress, 95, of Howard, OH. will be held Saturday, October 14, 10:30 a.m. at Station Break, 160 Howard St., Mt. Vernon, OH. with her grandson-in-law, Pastor Zack Morgan officiating. Her wish was that anatomical gift be given to the Ohio State University for research. Mrs. Childress, a retired school secretary from Westerville City Schools (Longfellow Elementary), passed away on September 29, 2017 at her daughter's home. She was born September 4, 1922 in Athens County, OH., the daughter of the late Carl and Rosa Hildebrand. She is a 50+ member of the Karl Rd. Baptist Church, Columbus, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Dan O. Childress on October 18, 2007 and her son Michael A. Childress on August 7, 2006, her sisters Freda (Chuck) Boley, Helen (Paul) Durfey, Elizabeth (Owen) Bruns, Clara (Curt) Franklin, Florence (John) Howell and her brothers Carl (Jo) Hildebrand and Walt Hildebrand. She is survived by her sons, Danny, David (Susan) and Tim; daughter, Marilyn Hamilton; daughter-in-law, Geri Childress; sister-in-law, Marsha Hildebrand; her very dear cousin, Glenna (Bob) Gamwell of Glouster, OH; her beloved grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Hubbs, David (Valerie) Childress, Amy (Scott) Galloway, Paul (Logan) Childress, Amanda Childress, Michael Joseph (Elwony) Childress, Elizabeth (Zack) Morgan, Daniel and Rebecca Hamilton. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Rachel and Keeley Galloway, Dalton, Lola and Harper Childress, Finn Childress and Lillian and Isaac Morgan; many special nieces and nephews, Carolyn Ann, Tom, Terry, Suzanne, Scott, Barb, Peggy, Joe, Ande, Reece, Jill, Tom, Connie and Mark; and her dear friends. A special thanks to the Hospice staff for their loving and special care.
