Greta Snyder Obituary
Snyder, Greta
1930 - 2017
Greta Charlotte (Kaltenbach) Snyder. Greta "Charlotte" of both Killbuck and Plain City, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Majora Lane Care Center. A fraternal twin born to Reo and John Theodore Kaltenbach on July 22, 1930 in Hilliard, Ohio, she was the tomboy sister to Florence (Murray), Ted, twin sister Charlene (Farmwald), Jay and Jerry. A jack of all trades from the start, Charlotte enjoyed playing rough with the boys yet still found pleasure in cooking and sewing with her sisters. She graduated from Hilliard High School in 1948. She became the loving wife of Don Snyder on July 5, 1952 and a wonderful mother to her four sons, Jim (Sherry), Aaron (Shelly), Scott (Laura) and Eric (Kris) Snyder; and daughter, Denise (Steve) English. A life devoted to hard work and a love of family, food and friendly competition, Charlotte raised her family in Plain City, Ohio. She woke early to bake pies for Grandmother Lamb's customers, and enjoyed her years as pitcher for the HITS and MRS, a women's traveling softball team. Active in the community, she volunteered for Jonathan Alder Schools, sewed majorette costumes and cheerleading shirts, cooked for the United Methodist Church, and served in a number of Plain City celebrations. Charlotte also ran her family-owned gas station, Snyder's Sohio during the 1970's. She became a supervisor for Kaltenbach Food Services and enjoyed the fast-paced environment and meeting new people while running the concession stands at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. Always looking to stay busy and social, Charlotte baked many cakes served at weddings, birthdays and graduation parties. After her retirement, she enjoyed Bunco and Bridge Clubs, knitting, sewing, cooking, frequenting restaurants, playing card games and spending time with her ten grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany), Danielle (Shawn), Joe (Risa), Joey (Allison), Lori (Tony), Kate (Nick), Matthew, Christina, Stephanie and Samantha; step grandchildren, Brandon and Kyle; 13 great-grandchildren, Tristyn, Taylor, Danielle, Thomas, Seth, Trisha, Maddy, Bella, Joey, Kaiden, Addy Sue, Greta and John Theodore; and great-great grandchild, Kalin. In 1988 she and Don bought a farm in Killbuck, Ohio and permanently settled in 2003; where she continued to make friends, stay active in the church, play cards and hosted many family and friends throughout the years. A true hostess, she was happy to entertain, always had an open door and a seat at the table. Fun, energetic and comforting, she had a gift of connecting and creating special relationships with everyone she met. She now walks with the angels. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 at Radiant Life Church, 7100 Post Road, Dublin, OH 43017. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 with Rev. Dr. Stephen Price and Pastor Dennis Griffin officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Wooster Hospice or Killbuck United Methodist Church. Visit fergusonfuneralhomeinc.com to share a special memory.
