Ventling Harold D. Ventling, age 89, peacefully passed over on Wednesday April 4, 2013 of natural causes. Harold, the cherished husband of his surviving wife Betty (Deckard) Ventling, was the loving father of four, Ann, James, Thomas and Paul, grandfather of seven, and great grandfather of two. The son of Harry and Edith Ventling, he was born on February 12, 1924 in Danville, Ohio and is also survived by his sister Jean (Ventling) Hubbel. After graduating from Danville High School, Harold proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He then went on to obtain a B.F.A. in 1949 from The Ohio State University, where he met his true love, Betty, who was obtaining her Nursing degree. They married and enjoyed 67 years of marriage. There has never been a more devoted husband. Harold loved nature, fishing, cooking, the Buckeyes and babies. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family but he will continue to live in our hearts forever. He was truly one in a million. A private family remembrance will be held Sunday the 7th. and a future memorial tree planting service this summer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Franklin County Humane Society.
