Magorien Helen Beatrice Magorien, born March 20, 1923 in New York City to the late Ellen and John Sheehan, departed this life on April 29, 2013. Helen always told the story that she was born on the ship coming from Ireland to New York. She was a graduate of Chicago State University and devoted 25 years to the profession of teaching, which she dearly loved. Helen and her late husband Raymond lived for the last 32 years of his life in Woodsfield, Ohio, where they raised their seven children, Dr. Raymond (Susan), Columbus, Kevin, Seattle, Dr. David (Gloria), Sacramento, Andrea Woodby (Herb), Byesville, OH, Timothy, Salt Lake City, Robert (Amy), Caldwell, OH, Dr. Douglas (Louis Marcoux), Dublin, OH. Helen is also survived by 12 grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, New Albany. She was a member of Women Today and Young at Heart group at the Church of the Resurrection. Playing bridge, Scrabble with her daughter Andrea, and traveling to see her children were her main delights in life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Association, in memory of her husband. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection, New Albany, on Friday, May 10, 2013, at 1 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. at St. Sylvester's in Woodsfield, OH.
