DANIELS Helen Daniels, 97, was born on June 1, 1915 and passed away at Wesley Glen Retirement Community. She was the daughter of Howard J. and Dollie (Phillips) Campbell, natives of Belmont County, in eastern Ohio. She was the wife of Lawrence W. Daniels, who worked for the Franklin County U.S. Soil Conservation Service and later as a journalist for the Columbus State Journal. To this union were born four children, Allen James Daniels of Dallas, John Donald Daniels deceased on August 6, 1988, twin David Myron Daniels of Dallas, and twin Dorcas Marie Daniels deceased on November 17, 1961. She has two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. For the first two years after graduation from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, in 1937 she taught English and Latin at Flushing High School, Flushing, Ohio. After her marriage in 1939, she became a homemaker until her oldest son, Allen, was married and the others were in college. Then, she took post-graduate courses at the University of Cincinnati in Library Science. She continued in that field of endeavor at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, after her move to Lansing, Michigan in 1965. She was employed for twenty years as a school librarian and later, under the Board of Education as a staff member at the Lansing Public Library. The year of 1984 marked her retirement, but volunteer service continued one day each week at East Lansing's Older Peoples Program (E.O.L.P.) for nine years. She moved to Wesley Glen Retirement Community, Columbus, Ohio, in 1993. She continued volunteering by writing in the "Creations from the Glen" and served as the Chair of the History Committee. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012 in the Auditorium at Wesley Glen, 5155 North High Street, 8th Floor, Columbus, Ohio with Rev. Glenn Schwerdtfeger, officiating. Burial Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lansing, Michigan. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington and 10:30-11 a.m. prior to the service at Wesley Glen Retirement Community.
