Helen Johnson Obituary
Johnson, Helen
1924 - 2017
Helen A Johnson, 93, passed away December, 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born October 11, 1924 in Wadsworth, OH to Nora and Roland Auble, one of nine daughters. A graduate of The Ohio State University School of Social Work, she worked in the juvenile system for several years and retired from OSU after 20 years as a Clinical Instructor of Psychiatric Social Work. After retirement she participated in programs at several senior centers and enjoyed water aerobics, especially if the water was warm. Helen was an avid reader and belonged to several book clubs including Sunset Literary Society. She was also a member of Columbus International Program and had hosted students from around the world. She enjoyed her friends and participation in the Central Ohio Hot Jazz Society, Parkview UMC Young at Heart, Hilliard SC Happiness Club and was an honorary British Wife. Other lifelong interests included travel, Dixieland music and crossword puzzles; she had competed in the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. A devoted football fan she always displayed her OSU flag on game day and named her cat Tressella after a favorite coach. Her greatest joy was found in time spent with her family at home, at the pool, or traveling and especially if an outing included Darby Creek Park. Helen was preceded in death by husband Richard and daughter-in-law Susan K Johnson. She is loved and survived by daughter, Joyce and son, Rick. She was Gma to Erin (Will) Gray, Toby Johnson and Grant Kephart, and beloved GG to Mimi, TJ, Venesa, Ki, Khari and Sonny. Late in life she found companionship and love with Bill Logsdon and his family. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at HOPE and HEART FUNERAL HOME by SCHOEDINGER, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204, where funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Interment Sunset Cemetery. Donations may be made to MidOhio Foodbank, Cols.
