Debus Herbert William Debus, Jr., age 90, of Canal Winchester, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Herb was born July 10, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio, the third child of the late Herbert William Debus, Sr. and Nettie Bingmer Debus. He graduated from South High School in Columbus, Ohio in 1941, then served in the United States Army Air Corp as a B-17 Mechanic from 1943- 1946. After Herb's Honorable Discharge as a WWII Veteran, he was married to his wife Jacquelyn on August 22, 1948. Herb worked as a Serviceman for the Dictaphone/Pitney Bowes Corporation until he retired and continued working on the family farm. He and his wife Jackie were founding members of Zion Lutheran Church in Obetz, Ohio. Herb loved his family, music, animals and farming. He was a quiet man who loved the Lord while having a thoughtful, kind, polite sense of humor. Herb is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Jacquelyn; children, Julie (Mike Llaneza) Anders and Timothy(Melanie) Debus; grandchildren, Jaime (Jordan) Kettel and Megan Anders; great-grandson Brody Kettel; special niece, Alice (Chris) Hann and their daughter Gretchen; and many more nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends and neighbors. Herb was preceded in death by his sisters Catherine Maniford, Mildred Schmidt, Ruth Harlin, and Mary Monte. We will miss our husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. Herb lost his battle to diabetes, prostate cancer, and kidney disease, but won everlasting life. Friends may visit from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, August 23, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1080 Obetz Rd., Columbus, OH, where a Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Matthew Cox officiating. Arrangements by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY.
