Hylda Zierman Obituary
Zierman Hylda Zierman "Mom Mom", 92, of Canal Winchester, passed on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Germany and moved to the United States at the age of three. When Hylda was 11 years old, she met Richard Zierman at a picnic. Their friendship continued through High School and in 1943 they were engaged, and married in 1944 moving to Fort Bragg in North Carolina. With the end of World War II, the couple moved back to New Jersey and in 1947 their daughter Suzanne was born. Hylda was employed at Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals as a Marketing Manager and worked there until she retired. During vacations Hylda and Richard started traveling throughout the United States and Europe. They loved meeting many lifetime friends through their adventures. Hylda found a love, not only for travel, but also photography which she continued to enjoy throughout her life. Entering retirement, they decided to move to Ohio to be closer to their grandchildren. Hylda designed their home and they built in Canal Winchester next to their family. They purchased a motor home and continued traveling through the United States until the passing of Richard in 1993. Hylda then filled her time with the grandchildren and her clubs. She was a member of Fairfield Herb Society, Green Castle Homemakers, Garden Club, and Dominoes where she enjoyed the companionship of many friends. At home she was always busy with tole painting, flower arranging, quilting, painting and gardening. She was awarded Outstanding Amateur Gardener and could be found outside working in her gardens until the age of 91. She loved sitting on her porch reading and watching out her windows at her gardens and animals. Like so many other grandmothers, she loved spending time with her granddaughter Kimberly Clark Christian and grandson William Clark. She was thrilled when she became a great-grandmother to Tenley Christian and always looked forward to visiting Kim, Tim, Tenley and their dogs. During those years she again resumed her love of photography and combined it with learning the use of computers. With the help of her son-in-law Larry Clark, she would spend hours making discs of photos of the family that have now turned into wonderful memories. Hylda lived a good life and now her family will honor her wishes with a private service in New Jersey where husband and wife will be reunited again. Arrangements handled by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Canal Winchester. A personal note of gratitude to Harold and staff from Ohio Living Home Health Hospice for making Hylda's time pain free and for the guidance given to me.
