Jack E. Seese, 94, of Grove City, passed on August 28. Born in Hebron, OH, the son of Lloyd and Ruth Jaeger Seese. Graduate of Grove City High School Class of 1941. Jack served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War I I. He began a career with Bell Telephone System in 1942. In February 1943 he entered the Army Air Corps and trained as a Flight Radio Operator for the Air Transport Command and served as a crew member on C-47 and C-54 aircraft. He flew to England, Australia, New Guinea, Guam and Japan. Awarded the Air Medal with a Citation for accumulating over 1,269 hours of operational flight time in the South Pacific Theatre. He received his honorable discharge from the service on Dec. 7, 1945 as a Staff Sergeant. He retired as a Network Manager for the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in 1981 with over 39 years of service. Past President of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Council, Grove City, where he was a member for 39 years. He was also Past Columbus Council President of the Telephone Pioneers of America, member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Grove City, American Legion Post #164, Life Member VFW #8198, Elks Lodge #37 and the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society. Owner of Seese Electric for 16 years. Survived by wife, Betty of 69 years; daughters, Janet (John) Shailer and Barbara Morehead; and son, Alan T. Seese of Grove City; grandchildren, Rev. John (Allison) Shailer, Anna Shailer and Katelin (fiance Tom Tolbert) Morehead; great-grandsons, Alexander, Evan and Nathan Shailer; brothers, Robert Seese and James (Nan) Kanode; sisters, Dorothy Jantzen, Peggy Fleming; brother-in-law, Bill (Bonnie) Cain. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Tucker and Patricia Gusa. Calling hours will be at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Thursday 5-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4501 Hoover Rd., Grove City at 11 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 with Rev. Peter Ray, Rev. John Shailer, and Rev. Jeff Wise officiating. Friends may contribute to the Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund or Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation, 700 Children's Drive, Columbus, OH 43215 in his memory.
