Jack Edwards Obituary
Edwards, Jack
1952 - 2017
Every once in a great while there lives a person who is so kind, so generous, so humble that it almost defies explanation. That rare example of excellence that leave us wondering how we were ever so fortunate to have known them. They freely give of their time and energy, helping others while asking nothing in return. They often labor in silence, and if you know them well you would see the dazzling smile and quick wit that lay below the calm mask they presented the world. Jack Edwards was such a man. His many years of teaching and coaching speak to his love of educating and his willingness to give of himself. His humble roots led him to value all that he had, from his lifelong friends to his deep lasting love of his wife and daughter. To Jack, teaching was not just a job, it was a passion. He worked tirelessly to provide the same opportunities to his students that he had been given. He loved being part of the Franklin Heights family and was deeply proud that he was honored by that family when they dedicated their track in 2016 and named him to the Alumni Hall of Fame. Jack received his Bachelor's and Master's degree from The Ohio State University and spent 32 years teaching and coaching the youth of South-Western City Schools. Jack is survived by his wife, Kathleen Fahy Edwards; his daughter, Kaitlin Fahy (Tessa Reed) Edwards of Colorado; his brothers, Dan (Rita), Mark (Jill), Mike (Tammi); his sister, Tami (Wayne) Seibert; numerous nieces and nephews, close cousins, great friends, former students and fellow educators. Preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Marion. A special thank you to Champion Intergenerational Enrichment and Education Center and National Church Residences Hospice for their loving care. Honoring his love of nature, Jack will be cremated and become part of nature at one of his favorite spots, Brady's Farm. Calling hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. Contributions in Jack's memory may be made to the Jack Edwards Track & Field Scholarship (Checks payable to Franklin Heights H.S., Attn. Andrew Amstutz, 1001 Demorest Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43204).
