WROE James Albert Wroe, age 87, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born on March 18, 1925 in Fairmont, W.VA to Albert A. Wroe and Ada Linn Wroe. In high school he received 11 letters in track, basketball, baseball, and football. Later golf became his "sport of choice". He was a founding member of Hickory Hills Golf Club, Columbus, OH. His crowning achievement was to travel to Scottland to play St. Andrews Golf Course. After high school, he enlisted and served in the US Army Air Corps. From 1943-1945 as a 2nd Lt. fighter pilot flying the P47 Thunderbolt in the 8th Air Force Division. Jim attended Clemson University and Fairmont State College and received his B.S. Law Degree from West Virginia University. While attending WVU he was a proud member of Phi Kappa Psi and remained friends with his many Fraternity brothers through his entire life. Out of college he was recruited by General Adjustment Bureau of Chicago, IL, in their management program. He was employed as an Executive Catastrophic General Adjuster for almost 20 years. During this time he served as President of the National Fraternity of Insurance Adjusters, "The Blue Goose." In 1967 he founded James A. Wroe Assoc. in Upper Arlington, OH on the Mallway in Old Arlington, above the 31 flavors ice cream shop. Later he merged his business with Bradford Adjuster Bureau, supervising multiple offices in several states, becoming President and CEO. In 1989 he sold his business staying on in a consultant capacity. He retired in 1991. He was a well respected natural born leader, whether it was in sports as a team captain or star player, professionally as a business owner or in his social clubs. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Margaret Linn Ashbee, brother-in-law Wayne Ashbee. Also preceding him in death are his wives Ann Davidson, the mother of his four children, Betty Walker and Maronee Janes. He is survived by children, James M. (Debra) Wroe of Orlando, FL, Amy G. (Corey) Hand of Huntington Beach, CA, Elizabeth Ann. Wroe of Columbus, OH; step-children, Alexandria Lee Wroe, Pam Janes (Bill) Snyder, David (Nathie) Janes, Robert Glen (Christy) Janes, Anne Elizabeth Janes, Thomas F. (Gene') Janes, Regina Walker (James) Kennedy, and Mark Walker; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was a fun loving and devoted father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to all he knew. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH 43221.
