It has been an amazing blessing having Mike in my son's life during his freshman year at THE Ohio State.

James and his dad had spoken so highly of Mike after freshman orientation in the summer of 2009.

I am so glad I had the oppurtunity to meet Mike when I moved James into his dorm last September. I left James in good hands and remember Mike giving me a big hug as I said "take care of my son".

He did, and also has been a major influence to James the past year.

Mike will be missed.

May his family find peace in knowing what a loving man he was.

Mike Dunn was a man that can never be replaced. He was a leader, a friend, a mentor, and a second father to me. He made my transition and experience at The Ohio State University more than I could have ever imagined in my first year. His legacy will never fade away to those who were blessed enough to have met him. My goal is that all of us can "pay it forward" and be a fraction of the person that he was.

Love,
James Larcus

James Michael Dunn was a brother to me that I never had and a Mentor Emeritus to my son James. Even though James was some 2,000 miles from home I always knew Mike was there for him. Mike was always giving of his time to James and I. I always looked forward to receiving one of his heartfelt and numerous e-mails or dining with him when visiting the campus.
THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY is what it is today because of great individuals like Mike. It would be impossible for me to write how strongly my love was for Mike. Mike is now with his mentor Fred and I'm sure the two will still be contributing and making OSU the wonderful University that it is.
GO BUCKS & HAIL PURDUE!
Love you Mike & God bless - Gary

My family and I will be forever grateful for Mike's kindness and professionalism during the time when Larkins Hall was torn down a few years ago. I remember contacting him to see if our family could acquire the Larkins Hall sign. He actually ran out into the rubble to secure the sign and then presented it to us. Then he invited us to tour the RPAC. He so eloquently walked our family through the new facility while taking the time to enrich our lives with stories of our grandfather's history at the University. It was important to him to continue the Larkins legacy within the new facility and he implemented it with excitement and determination. I'm proud to say that Larkins Plaza now exists because of Mike’s vision. He will always remain an amazing representation of the University. We are all better for knowing him and he will be missed. Our condolences go to Mike’s family and friends.

I was shocked to read about Mike's passing in the OSU Today email publication. I am deeply saddened to hear this news. I used to work for Student Affairs and had to work student move in and remember how much I disliked it until I personally met and worked with Mike. Then I wanted to work all day just to see and spend time with him. Mike was a wonderful man and I will miss him greatly.

As a "friend of the department" I will sorely miss Mike. He and his staff, particularly Bruce Maurer, have done so much for faculty and staff who play tennis at the Tennis Center. Just a few weeks ago my daughter Nancy who is on the staff of the Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab program and I met with Mike and Bruce for four hours as they speculated how they could improve the recreational experience of OSU students taking coursework at the lab on Lake Erie. As usual, Mike was extremely supportive of developing a plan and making it work. Hopefully someone, in tribute to Mike, will pick up where he left off with regard to this latest effort to help students have a better campus life.
