Obituary Condolences

Sayre James "Ben" Sayre, 90, of Hilliard, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2017 at the Convalarium at Indian Run. Born October 8, 1926 in Graham Station, WV to the late Olson and Lenna (Zerkle) Sayre. Member of the Big Darby Baptist Church. Ben and his brother Dale farmed together for over 50 years in Brown Township, Franklin County. Ben was also a member of the Two Cylinder Club. Served on the first School Board for Tolles Technical School and was a past member of the Hilliard School District. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son James L. Sayre in 2014, brothers Dale and his wife Jane, Philip, sisters Winifred, Marjorie, and Geraldine. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Virginia "Dottie" Sayre; children, Rick (Kelly) Sayre, Chris (Teri) Sayre, Scott (Brenda) Sayre; daughter-in-law, Karen Sayre; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Danny; sister, Agnes; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St. (St. Rt. 161 W), Plain City, Ohio 43064, where the funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017. Pastor Eric Swenson officiating. Burial in Big Darby Cemetery, Canaan Township.
