James L. "Jim" Toki, 75, of Roseville (Avondale), Ohio, died on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home. Born January 3, 1942 in Congo, Ohio to the late Frank Toki, Jr. and Virginia Haskins Toki. Jim was raised in Corning, Ohio and where he attended school, graduating in 1960 and then moved to the Columbus Area, he became secretary to the technical director of Ohio Malleable Iron. Jim also worked as a musician, writing, singing and playing keyboards and bass through the 60's and early 70's. As a member of Musicians Local 103, he performed with such bands as the Chevelles, Stone Heart and the Nashville Sounds, working with many country greats. He loved stage and road work and after a short stint in Nashville he abruptly retired from music in 1973. He dedicated himself to working his skilled trade as a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 189. He worked as a pipefitter, welder, welding instructor, supervisor, project manager and division manager, retiring in 1999. Jim also worked with the love of his life, his wife of 35 years, Jane as vendors at craft shows, festivals and antique tractor shows for 30 years where they met hundreds of friends. Jim was very close to his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings. Besides his wife, Jane Conrad Toki, he leaves 4 children, Kelly, Darin, Jamie and Jessica; first wife, Sandra; 3 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 2 brothers, Tom (Sue) and Larry; sister, Linda (Butch) Walters; and many other relatives, friends and wonderful neighbors. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio and from 10-11 am on Tuesday at the church. Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 159 Adams Street, Corning, Ohio with Pastor Carolyn Hoskinson officiating.
