Janice S. (Vernon) Wooton Obituary
Wooton Janice S. (Vernon) Wooton, age 74, of Grandview Heights, went Home to her Lord Friday, February 8, 2013 at her residence after a courageous 13 year battle with cancer. She was born October 31, 1938 in Athens, Ohio, a daughter of the late Madison Taylor and Nellie (Harvey) Vernon. Preceded in death by her husband of 43 1/2 years, Russell Wooton and her brother Madison Vernon, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Dianna Wooton; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. She is a graduate of North High School, Mata Business College and The Ohio State University. She was Treasurer of Citizens Savings and Loan and retired from The Ohio State University College of Medicine after many years of service. She was a very kind and caring person, helping many family members, friends, and contributing to those in need. She was an Active Member of her Church, Fifth Avenue UM, as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member and following the death of her husband became a Grief Share Facilitator at Cypress Wesleyan Church. She was Co-Owner of R&J Blacktop for 17 Years, an Active Member of the American Business Women's Association and listed in Who's Who in American Women for her work and accomplishments. She was also a Member of The Humane Society, ASPCA, The League of Women Voters, The Historical Society and Arthritis Foundation. She loved Animals, Music, Reading and Travel. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013. Pastor Dale George officiating. Interment Union Cemetery. Those who wish, contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct., Hilliard, OH 43026 or Mt.
