Rapp Jean Ella Rapp, 89, formerly of London, OH, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Bluebird Retirement Community. Although our hearts are broken, today she is home with her Lord. She was born on January 21, 1928 in Mars, PA, a daughter of the late Arthur H. Held, Sr. and Mary O. Blakeley Held. She is survived by her sons, Wm. Keith (Terri) Rapp, Jeffrey D. Rapp; daughter, Susan D. (Douglas) Alt, all of West Jefferson; grandchildren, Briana (Bracton) Eicher, Aaron Rapp, Whitney (Zach) Bowman, Chris, Kevin (Cori), Kyle (Madison) Rapp, and Daniel and Justin (Megan) Alt; great-grandchildren, Sean, Chloe, Mya, Ava and Kaden Rapp and Sadie Alt; sister, Nancy L. McCafferty of Maineville, OH; sister-in-law, Joan Hines of Grove City, OH. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Kenneth Elwood Rapp on April 4, 2015, brothers August Held, Edwin Held and Arthur Held, Jr., sister Florence Reed and daughter-in-law Tamela Rapp. Jean graduated from Mars High School in 1946 where she was crowned May Day Queen. She started playing the organ for Mars United Presbyterian Church while still in high school and continued playing the church organ throughout her life. Jean played at Big Darby Baptist Church, Plain City, OH for 35 years. Great was her faithfulness and service. Jean had a strong faith and love for her Lord. She loved being a farm wife and living on the farm until moving to town later in life. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister and friend. She treasured her family and spent many years nurturing her children and grandchildren. Jean was a member of Big Darby Baptist Church, loved music, gardening and cooking family dinners. She was well known for her homemade noodles, caramels and apple dumplings. Family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St., (St Rt 161 W), Plain City. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Big Darby Baptist Church, 6921 Plain City Georgesville Rd, Plain City, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Friday. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, OH. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Big Darby Baptist Church.
