Carbaugh Jerry S. Carbaugh, a resident of Bluffton (Hilton Head), SC, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on August 14, 2014. Jerry was born February 11, 1949, in Chambersburg, PA. He is survived by his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" Ratliff Carbaugh; daughter, Tara M. Carbaugh; father, Gerald Carbaugh; sister, Judy (Paul) Leidig, aunt, Leota Gossert; cousin, Ruby (John) Winsko; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Mario Machi, Dottie and Joe Woods, Kathy and Denny Ratliff; numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Rexrode Carbaugh. He was a graduate of the University of Baltimore and Franklin University. He was a longtime CPA in Columbus, Ohio, where he was a resident of Reynoldsburg, Ohio followed by Pataskala, Ohio. Upon retirement, he and his wife and daughter moved to beautiful Sun City in Bluffton, SC. As Jerry walked the dogs each day, he encountered and met many, many residents and friends. Up until a week before his passing, he was still out walking and visiting along the way. The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Thomas and his staff for their wonderful care during Jerry's illness, as well as Dr. Richard Hussong and his staff. There were numerous caregivers throughout his illness that were very special and will not be forgotten. Per Jerry's request, the family will be taking him on his final journey to Key West, Florida (his favorite place in the world!) and then onto The Ohio State University (home of his OSU Buckeyes). Donations may be made in Jerry's honor to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, SC, 29910.
