Roy Jessie "Jean" Roy, age 78, of Sunbury, died Monday evening, January 13, 2014 at Country View of Sunbury surrounded by her family. She was born on February 26, 1935 in Sunbury to the late Gerald L. and Alta L. (Ross) Crowl. She was a 1953 graduate of Big Walnut High School with perfect 12 year attendance. She started her career as the Secretary for the Superintendent of Big Walnut Schools and finished her career at The Delaware Gazette. A past member of the Zoar Rebekah Lodge #451, and the Porter Grange. Jean was a detailed record keeper of birthdays and anniversaries and special dates and enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren and their activities. She was an avid reader of the Sunbury News and Delaware Gazette. She is survived by her children, Greg (Cathy) Roy, Renee (Trevor) Ross, both of Sunbury; grandchildren, Matthew (Mikkele), Andy, Chad Roy, Candice, Casey Ross; brother, William "Jim" (Heidi McDannald) Crowl of Sunbury; sisters, Linda (Don) Kroninger of Sunbury, Joan (Leo) Ulery of Ironton; and one of her favorite caregivers and honorary family member, Allie Walker. Preceded in death by brother Kenneth Crowl. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Booth officiating.
